Traditional fossil-fuel based power sources are shifting to renewable power generation in a rapid way under the pressure of global climate change. With the increasing share of renewable power generation, current power system is evolving to renewable power generation predominated power systems. Among the renewable sources, wind and photovoltaic power generation are the primary sources and integrated with novel integration and control methods via converters. The uncertainty of wind and photovoltaic power generation pushes power system to operate under operating conditions of more diversity. Meanwhile, the converter-based integration and control methods drive system dynamic performance to a deteriorated state. Therefore, the system operation is undergoing long-lasting threat on system security and stability. It is critical to develop novel idea and technology to enhance the secure and stable operation of renewable power generation predominated power systems.

This session invites global experts to share leading research advancement in dynamic security and stability of renewable power generation predominated power systems. Invited presentations will be given and a round-table discussion will be held to discuss the trend of development of renewable power generation predominated power systems. This session is co-hosted by Shandong University and IEEE Power & Energy Society Power System Dynamic Performance Satellite Committee – China.
